Conversation Styles

Gaion lets you choose how your AI companions communicate with you. You can switch between Natural Conversation and Roleplay at any time, depending on whether you want a clean chat experience or a more immersive, story-like one.

Natural Conversation

Best for: straightforward discussion, advice, and everyday chat.

In Natural Conversation mode, companions respond just like a normal messaging app.

  • You see only what the companion says to you.
  • No narration.
  • No inner thoughts.
  • Clean, minimal, and direct.

This mode is ideal when you want clarity and speed without any extra descriptive text.

Roleplay Mode

Best for: immersive storytelling, character depth, and emotional context.

In Roleplay mode, a companion’s message may include up to three distinct parts:

1. Narration

Describes actions, body language, or the surrounding scene.

Example:

He glances out the window as sparrows argue over crumbs.

2. Inner Thought

Shows the companion’s relevant internal thoughts, helping explain emotion, hesitation, or motivation.

Example:

(That is a heavy question. It reminds me of someone I once knew.)

3. Spoken Response

The actual reply addressed directly to you.

Together, these layers create a richer sense of presence while keeping the conversation readable and easy to follow.

Switching Between Conversation Styles

You can change your conversation style at any time.

  1. Click Me in the navigation bar.
  2. In the Basic Information section at the top of the page, find Conversation Style.
  3. Choose Natural Conversation or Roleplay.

The change applies immediately.

Important Note About Chat History

Behind the scenes, Gaion always generates narration and inner thoughts, even if you are currently using Natural Conversation mode.

This means:

  • If you chat in Natural Conversation today and later switch to Roleplay,
  • You can re-read past conversations and see narration and inner thoughts appear.
  • No context or detail is lost. Only the display style changes.

This allows you to move freely between clean conversation and immersive roleplay without breaking continuity.

Which Should I Choose?

  • Choose Natural Conversation if you want focus, speed, and simplicity.
  • Choose Roleplay if you want depth, atmosphere, and character insight.

You can switch styles whenever you like, so feel free to experiment and use whatever fits the moment best.
